No less than six individuals have been murdered in an assault on an Indian aviation based armed forces base near the fringe with Pakistan, reports say.
Four shooters who entered the Pathankot base in a seized auto are dead alongside two gatekeepers, authorities said.
The base is on the principle interstate prompting Indian-managed Kashmir.
The episode comes days after the Indian and Pakistani pioneers Narendra Modi and Nawaz Sharif met in Lahore to dispatch an astonishment peace activity.
The entire of India's Punjab state has been put on alarm.
Aggressor assertion
The BBC's Sanjoy Majumder in Delhi says it is not yet clear who the aggressors are but rather suspicion is as of now falling on Kashmiri activist gatherings situated in Pakistan.
However the AFP news office cited an anonymous security official as saying he trusted the aggressors to be from the Jaish-e-Mohammed bunch.
India says the gathering is supported by Pakistan, however Islamabad denies this.
In August seven individuals were murdered in a comparative assault when shooters raged a police headquarters in adjacent Gurdaspur area.
The three aggressors in Gurdaspur were killed following a 12-hour standoff with police.
Pathankot aviation based armed forces base is around 430km (270 miles) north of the Indian capital, Delhi and is out and about connecting Indian-regulated Kashmir with whatever remains of the nation.
Indian-controlled Kashmir has seen a long-running revolt against guideline from Delhi, and Kashmir has been a flashpoint in relations in the middle of Pakistan and India for about 70 years since freedom.
